Our Vision
The Drama Department at Strangford Integrated College promotes a positive ethos. Our values include; Respect, Compassion, Trust, Co-operation and Determination. Through drama, learners have rich opportunities to be creative and to experience inspiration and enjoyment. Pupils are involved in creating and presenting, developing their acting and presenting skills through participating in scripted and improvised drama. Exploring real and imaginary situations helps pupils to understand, share their world and develop their understanding of the worlds of others, both in the past, present and future.

Key Stage 3
In Year 9, students learn through a variety of skills and theme-based units including: Vision, Values and Aims; Improvisation & Conventions; Voice and Movement; Anti-Bullying; Mental Health (Inside & Out) & Working with a Text
In Year 10, students continue to develop their voice and language skills through their exploration of characterisation and role-play. Units of work include: Murder Mystery; Drug Awareness; War & Conflict and Working with a Text.
Key Stage 4
GCSE students study the CCEA Drama course. Building on the Key Stage 3 foundation, pupils will explore and develop their work through: Devised Performance (25%); Scripted Performance (35%) Knowledge and Understanding of Drama (405). Pupils may choose to be an Actor or a Designer. As part of their course, pupil attend the theatre using their experiences from the theatre in workshops in the classroom. The Set Text is currently ‘Sparkleshark.’
Key Stage 5
A-Level students study the CCEA Performing Arts course. For AS Performing Arts they will study ‘Developing Skills + Repertoire and ‘Planning + Realise a Performing Arts Event. For A2 students will study ‘Planning For Employment’ and ‘Performing to a Commission Brief’.
Extra-Curricular Visits and Trips
The Drama Club is a fun filled after-school session where students of all ages work together on various mini projects developing their skills and expertise in practical drama.
We have attended The Mac Theatre to experience workshops led by Bruiser Theatre Company and as part of the Schools Affiliation Scheme with The Lyric Theatre, students have benefitted from Physical Theatre workshops led by their skilled workshop facilitator.
This year we hope to visit the theatre with the students studying for GCSE Examinations.
